Aotearoa/New Zealand's path to becoming Zero Carbon 2050

OECD data on New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions

  • The data is depressing, we are the bottom.  So what does NZ need to do to improve – how far do we have to go to reach a zero-carbon economy?

New Zealand’s reporting of greenhouse gas emission

Data from Stats NZ shows that are greenhouse gas emissions are declining. Yet, in The Spinoff article published in 2019, it states:

New Zealand’s net emissions increased by 65% from 1990 to 2017. After offsetting, gross emissions had risen by 23% since 1990.

The Ministry tasked with reducing our greenhouse gas emissions is the Ministry for the Environment, so what information and or data do they provide on our path to zero emissions?

Who thinks we are going to make it?
